LAI Tsung-Yun, a young artist with industrial design background, is currently studying for his master degree in the Department of New Media Art of Taipei National University of the Arts and is one of the curators of Lacking Sound Festival. LAI also co-sponsored interdisciplinary performances with ET.Lab. The name of the artwork "Sequence" comes from the famous speech written by a Sweden director Ingmar Bergman: "A snakeskin full of ants. The snake itself is long since dead, eaten out from within, deprived of its poison; but the skin moves, filled with busy life." In the artwork of "Sequence", we are exposed to the moving images filled with puncturing, chopping, and scrapping, along with wrinkled skin, smoke, fish scale, and thin blood, by which the artist reveals the grey area so close to and yet so resistant to the verge of death. |
